1. ‘Gully Boy’ Earns Rs 100 Cr at the Box Office in Its First Week

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer Gully Boy has earned Rs 100 crore at the box office as of day 8, reports trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

On 21 February, Adarsh observed that the Zoya Akhtar directorial received strong support from the metro cities since its premiere but overall saw “weak mass circuits”. Box office figures on day 7 stood at Rs 95.20 crores.

2. Govt Denies Jamia’s Request to Confer SRK With Honorary Doctorate

The HRD Ministry has turned down a request by Jamia Millia Islamia to confer an honorary doctorate degree on Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, saying the actor has already received one from a different university, according to an RTI response.

Khan, who is a former student of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), had given his consent to the proposal of a honorary degree from the varsity following which a request for the same was sent to Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry last year by Jamia for approval. “JMI wrote to HRD for conferring Honoris Causa to Shah Rukh Khan. The HRD did not agree as he has already been conferred the degree by Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANNU) in 2016,” Jamia Millia Islamia said in response to a RTI query by The Indian Express.

3. ‘Notebook Trailer’: Pranutan & Zaheer Iqbal Fall in Love Over Words

The trailer for Salman Khan production Notebook is out. Set in Kashmir, the film stars debutants Pranutan and Zaheer Iqbal. Pranutan plays a teacher in a small school who leaves to get married. Zaheer arrives as her replacement and finds himself falling in love with her after discovering an old notebook of hers. Notebook has been directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Salman Khan Films in association with Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde of Cine1 Studios.

4. Priyanka Parties With the Jonas Bros on Sophie Turner’s Birthday

Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner turned 23 years old on 21 February. Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram to wish her future sister-in-law, who is engaged to Nick Jonas’ brother Joe. She wrote, “To one of the most beautiful, fun people I’ve known. Happy birthday @sophiet you are loved! I can’t wait to see you as a bride. You will be stunning! 5. Atif Aslam Song From ‘Notebook’ to Be Replaced, Director Confirms

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam.

Director Nitin Kakkar Thursday confirmed that a song from his upcoming film Notebook, that was earlier sung by Pakistani singer Atif Aslam, will now be re-recorded with a new singer.

Following the blanket ban on Pakistani artistes in the wake of Pulwama terror attack, Aslam's song from the Notebook, that is produced by Salman Khan, will be redone. The film has total of five songs in the film and out of which one was sung by Atif.
