52,050 New COVID Cases Take India’s Tally to 18.5 L; 38,938 Deaths

India on Tuesday, 4 August, reported 52,050 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally in the country to 18,55,746. The death toll increased by 803 to 38,938.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, there are now 5,86,298 active cases across the country, while 12,30,509 patients have been discharged.

2.08 Crore Samples Tested Till Now: ICMR
The total number of samples tested for COVID-19 in India up till 3 August stands at 2,08,64,750, including 6,61,182 samples tested on Monday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Tuesday.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Tuesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and has also been admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors as a precaution.

Fatality Rate at Lowest Firts Time Since Lockdown: Centre Briefs Media on COVID Situation
The Centre on Tuesday briefed the media on the current COVID-19 situation in the country,.
“More than 2 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted, including more than 6.6 lakh tests in the last 24 hours. Recovered cases are now double of the active cases. The case fatality rate is lowest since the first lockdown,” Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary, Ministry of Health said as quoted by ANI.
“This is the first time after the first lockdown that the fatality rate is at the lowest, at 2.10%. Fatality rate has seen a progressive decline and it is continuing, which is a good sign,” he added.
674 New Cases in Delhi
Delhi reported 674 new COVID-19 cases today. The total positive cases have risen to 1,39,156 including 1,25,226 recovered/discharged/migrated cases and 4,033 deaths.
Karnataka CM Continues to be Stable
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa continues to remain stable since his admission and has been responding to treatment, Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru said in a statement.
390 New Cases in Kashmir
At least 390 new COVID19 cases were reported in Jammu and Kashmir today. The total number of cases in the Union Territory is now at 22,396, including 417 deaths.
5.063 New Cases in Tamil Nadu
At least 5,063 new COVID-19 cases and 108 deaths were reported in Tamil Nadu today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 2,68,285, including 4,349 deaths.
1,020 New Cases in Gujarat
At least 1,020 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Gujarat in last the 24 hours. The total number of cases in the state rises to 65,704 including 2,534 deaths.
259 New Cases in Goa
At least 259 new COVID-19 cases and 238 recovered cases were reported in Goa today. The total number of cases till date is 7,075, including 60 deaths.
7,760 New Cases in Maharashtra
At least 7,760 new COVID19 cases were reported in Maharashtra today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 4,57,956, including 16,142 deaths.
