1. Nirav Modi Arrested in London, to Be Produced in Court: ED

PNB scam accused Nirav Modi will remain in custody till 29 March after his bail plea was rejected by a London court on Wednesday, 20 March. The UK judge said that the court has substantial grounds to believe that Nirav Modi would fail to surrender if granted bail.

Nirav Modi was arrested in London on behalf of the Indian authorities on Tuesday, 19 March, in Holborn, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement, earlier today.

2. Goa CM Sawant Wins Trust Vote, Proves NDA Govt’s Majority in House

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday, 20 March, proved the majority of his BJP-led government in the Assembly, comfortably winning a floor test in the House.

Twenty MLAs voted for the motion of confidence in the two-day old government, while 15 opposed it.

After the win, Sawant appealed all the members to join hands with him to ensure that developmental work reaches every nook and corner of the state.

3. Will Not Contest the Upcoming Lok Sabha Elections, Says Mayawati

BSP Chief Mayawati has said that she will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections keeping in mind the current political situation, on Wednesday, 20 March, reported ANI.

BSP has forged an alliance with the SP and the RLD in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"Our coalition is doing good. I can vacate a seat and contest for the Lok Sabha later if I want," Mayawati said, adding that she will only focus on election campaigning. She also said she would be “happy if the next prime minister is from Uttar Pradesh.”

5. Samjhauta Blast Case: 4 Accused, Including Aseemanand, Acquitted

All the four accused in the 2007 Samjhauta Express blast case, including Aseemanand, Lokesh Sharma, Kamal Chauhan and Rajinder Chaudhary, were acquitted by the special NIA court in Panchkula on Wednesday, 20 March.
