Nokia 8110 4G Feature Phone Will Finally Let You Chat on WhatsApp
HMD Global on Tuesday confirmed the availability of the popular messaging platform WhatsApp on its Kai OS-running Nokia 8110 4G feature phone. The company has officially said that India will be one of the first markets in the world to get WhatsApp support on its entry-level 4G feature phone.
As you might know, the Nokia 8110 4G is a smart feature phone, powered by Kai OS, something that we’ve already seen with the JioPhone and JioPhone 2 in the market. Nokia 8110 4G was HMD Global’s successor to the Nokia 3310 which was launched at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona.
This one is priced on the steeper (for its features) side at Rs 5,999 and it has taken Nokia more than four months, since its India launch to support WhatsApp on the device.
For users of the Nokia 8110, they can head over to the Nokia app store in India and download the Facebook-owned messaging app.
Nokia 8110 4G with its slider design and a Banana-yellow shade on offer runs on the operating system made by KaiOS. Incidentally, this OS is also behind the smart features of the JioPhone.
Interestingly, Nokia 8110 4G is a dual-SIM enabled device, that’ll let you connect via 4G VoLTE and share the data with others via Wi-Fi hotspot. You also get Bluetooth and GPS among other options.
On the software front, Kai OS is the common factor between the Nokia 8110 4G and the JioPhone, which means users can rely on these phones to use basic apps like Google Maps, Outlook, Gmail and even Google Assistant for that matter.
The fact that both these devices are made around the same hardware and software blueprint, ensures there’s isn’t much to differentiate between them.
