Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs, helped world’s heaviest woman alive gain a medical visa to India after her doctor tweeted to her. Dr Muffi Lakdawala, Mumbai-based bariatric surgeon, tweeted to Swaraj complaining about the visa request for 36-year-old Admed being declined through normal procedure.

A day after the first tweet, the doctor tweeted again that the embassy in Cairo had granted visa to the resident of port city of Alexandria within hours of Swaraj’s response.

Egyptian woman Eman Ahmed, according to Lakdawala, weighs 500 kg whereas the Guinness World Record for heaviest living woman is held by Pauline Potter who weighed 291 Kg in May 2010.

Ahmed suffered a stroke at the age of 11 which rendered her bed-ridden, a report published in in The Sun in October claims.

Her weight prevented her from pursuing her studies as she dropped out of school due to weight gain. She has reportedly not left her bed for 25 years.
