The Academy Awards 2018 offered something for everyone – from highlighting Hollywood's sexual misconduct scandal to recognising first-timers, LGBT movies, films about other cultures, to even having a few laughs about last year's best-picture goof-up.

Women filmmakers and artistes of colour celebrated a year of diversity, saluting the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment and urging underrepresented artistes to seize the momentum.

In a ceremony marked by calls for activism across several fronts, gay romance Call Me By Your Name won the Best Adapted Screenplay and racial satire Get Out won the Best Original Screenplay awards.

However, Guillermo Del Toro’s The Shape of Water was the biggest winner at the Oscars this year, grabbing four awards. It was followed by Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk which won three golden statuettes.
