Fact-Check: Does This Video Show Actor Rajinikanth Slipping and Falling? No!

The man in the video is not actor Rajinikanth and was identified as one Rajaram Tallur.

A video showing an older man slipping and falling while walking in a garden has gone viral on social media, where users have claimed that it shows actor Rajinikanth getting injured while picking up the newspaper.

At the time of writing this report, this post by Instagram page 'tv1indialive' had gathered over 16 million views and more than 1.5 lakh likes.

But...?: The person in the video is not actor Rajinikanth.

  • It shows a man named Rajaram Tallur who had shared this CCTV video of him falling in his house.

How do we know?: While looking for more information, we came across a comment on X, which had shared a screenshot of a Facebook page named 'Rajaram Tallur'.

  • We looked for the profile on Facebook and found that the person had shared several posts clarifying that the video did not show actor Rajinikanth.

  • In one post shared in Kannada, he said that he had shared a video of him slipping and falling at home, taken from his home security camera, "a week ago."

  • He then addressed the false claim which misidentified him as actor Rajinikanth, clarifying that it was indeed his own video.

He had originally shared the video on 24 July on his Facebook page.

On Rajinikanth: When we looked for news reports to verify whether any such incident had happened with the actor, we came across one by Times of India, which carried inputs from the actor's team.

  • Their statement said that the actor was "completely fine" and that the confusion may have happened because the man's face is not clearly visible, the report said.

Conclusion: A video of man slipping and falling down in his garden is being shared on social media, where users have misidentified him as actor Rajinikanth.
