An image which purportedly shows a screenshot of a post from United States of America's President Donald Trump's Truth Social account has gone viral on social media.
What does it say?: It claims to show a post by Trump, where he says it is "so hard to believe that Prime Minister Modi STILL hasn't responded to my tweets, statements, or tariff concerns."
"We gave India so much - great deals, defense support, big crowds - and yet, TOTAL SILENCE. Not even a thank you," it reads, adding that Trump credits himself for the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, and that many people believe he should have gotten the Nobel Prize for doing so.
"India continues to benefit while American workers suffer. I've always liked Modi, but this kind of disrespect will NOT be forgotten. Bad for business. Bad for friendship," the post concluded.
How do we know?: To begin with, we looked for this post on Trump's Truth Social account, as the screenshot in the claim resembles the format of the posts on that platform.
However, we found that Trump had not shared this post on his account.
The most recent post shared on this account about India, called India and Russia "dead economies," saying that the US has "done very little business with India, their Tariffs are too high, among the highest in the World (sic)."
His other,recent post mentioning India was shared on 30 July 2025, mentioned similar points about doing business with India, while going on to talk about India buying military equipment and energy from Russia while announcing 25 percent tariffs on India starting 1 August.
We then went through the archived versions of this account to check whether Trump made and deleted the post in the claim, but did not find any evidence to support it.
While comparing screenshots of the real post about India and the screenshot in the claim, we noticed that both posts differed in their format.
Next, we checked his X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook accounts to see if Trump had shared any posts targeting PM Modi there, but did not find any.
Conclusion: A fabricated screenshot is being shared to falsely claim that US President Donald Trump posted an angry rant against PM Modi on social media.
