A video showing chaos inside a shop with clothes being thrown at a huge crowd has gone viral on social media, claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Mahila Morcha members ransacked a saree shop in Muzaffarpur during the 'Bihar bandh' protest on 4 September.
Why Bihar Bandh?: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) held a 'Bihar Band' on 4 September against the abusive language used by an individual for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mother at a rally for the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Darbhanga.
What we found: We divided the video into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image search on some of them.
It led us to the same video on Instagram by a page named 'Agarwal Sarees' from 20 August.
It is to be noted that the Bihar Band protest was on 4 September while, this video is from August.
The caption noted, "Day 60 of big sale 2025. Agarwal saree" (sic.)
We went through the page and found more such videos listed in the grid showing the sale day as stated in the caption, previously.
The Quint reached out to Madhusudan Agarwal, the owner of the shop who refuted the claim that the video was from Bihar.
He also mentioned that their shop was located in Maldas Street, Udaipur, and the clip was from a sale day at their establishment.
We looked for the shop on Google maps and found the store. You can view the location here.
Conclusion: A video from Udaipur showing a sale at a saree shop has gone viral to falsely claim that it shows BJP Mahila Morcha members looted a store during the Bihar Band protest, recently.
