A video of philanthropist Sudha Murty promoting an investment platform is going viral on social media platforms as a real advertisement.
In the clip, it shows Murty saying that the platform can help people in India earn around Rs 80,000 per day.
What is the truth?: The video has been manipulated using the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and does not show a real instance of Murty promoting a platform.
How did we find that out?: On performing a reverse image search, we found a YouTube clip posted on 10 August on an unverified YouTube channel.
The source of the video was mentioned as Infosys.
We went through the official YouTube channel of Infosys and found the original video posted on 27 December 2022.
It was titled, "Listen to Sudha Murty as Infosys commemorates four decades of excellence."
We did not find Murty promoting any investment platform in this clip.
What did detection tools show?: Team WebQoof passed the clip through two detection tools namely — TrueMedia and Hive Moderation.
Both the tools showed substantial evidence of manipulation, which further corroborated that the viral clip was indeed generated using the help of AI tools.
