Old Video Falsely Shared as Rahul Gandhi Attending Gautam Adani’s Birthday Party

The video dates back to May 2022 and shows Gandhi at a nightclub in Kathmandu, Nepal.

A video showing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at a party is being shared on social media to claim that it shows him attending billionaire businessman Gautam Adani's birthday party on 24 June 2025.

Is it true?: No, the claim is false.

• The video dates back to May 2022 and shows Gandhi attending a party at a bar in Kathmandu, Nepal.

How do we know?: We ran a reverse image search using Google Lens on some frames from the video.

• This led us to an India Today report, published on 5 May 2022, which carried the video.

• It said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had shared this video of Gandhi at a party in Nepal's Kathmandu, falsely claiming that he was at the nightclub with the Chinese ambassador.

• More reports shared in 2022 by Times Now, The Print and News 18 also said that it showed Gandhi at a Kathmandu bar.

• Other reports by The Print and The Wire said that the claim about Gandhi meeting the Chinese ambassador to Nepal was false.

• The Wire included inputs from Rabin Sreshta, owner of the bar Lord of the Drinks where Gandhi was spotted.

• Sreshta said that the claim was false and that the video showed Gandhi speaking to Sumnima Das, a friend of the bride for whose wedding Rahul Gandhi was in Nepal. 

Conclusion: A three-year-old video is being shared to falsely claim that it shows Rahul Gandhi at billionaire Gautam Adani's birthday party on 24 June 2025.
