How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the viral video which led us to the original video shared by Al Jazeera English on 30 October 2017.

  • This interview is from a CBS ‘60 Minutes’ interview and shows the Emir of Qatar discussing Qatar’s diplomatic crisis with other Gulf countries and leadership.

  • In the original video, he does not make any statements criticizing Trump as shown in the viral video.

  • We also performed a relevant keyword search on Google but did not find any credible reports that would support this claim.

AI manipulation: We noticed unnatural movements around Tamim’s eyes and mouth signaling AI manipulation.

  • We analysed the video’s audio using several AI-detection tool, Hive Moderation, which confirmed that the audio is AI-generated and manipulated.

Conclusion: A deepfake video of Emir of Qatar criticising Donald Trump is going viral as real.
