A video showing an Aaj Tak reporter interviewing a person lying on a hospital bed is going viral online to claim that it shows a recent interview of a terrorist who was caught alive by the Indian Army after the Pahalgam attack.

(Archives of similar claims can be seen here and here.)

What's the truth?: This video is from August 2022 and is unrelated to the Pahalgam terror attack.

How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on some of the keyframes of the viral video on Google which led us to an old video shared by Aaj Tak.

  • This was the same interview shared on 25 August 2022 and this short has garnered over 1.1 million views on YouTube.

  • The title of the short mentions that it shows a Pakistani terrorist.

  • Taking a cue, we performed a relevant keyword search which showed us an old report by the same media outlet.

  • This article was published on 25 August 2022 and carried the longer version of the interview.

  • According to the report, the Indian Army prevented two infiltration attempts along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, Jammu & Kashmir.

  • During these operations, they managed to capture one Pakistani terrorist alive who was later admitted to a hospital and is seen in the video.

Conclusion: An old video of a Pakistani terrorist is being falsely linked to the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
