CCTV footage of a shop showing a worker dressed in blue sitting in between shelves is being shared on social media. The video shows an earthquake hitting the store, as the shelves rock and fall on top of the worker, who appears to get buried under them.
The claim: This video is being shared to claim that it shows visuals of the recent 8.8 magnitude earthquake which hit Russia's Kamchatka on 30 July.
Apart from social media users, news organisations ET Now and JagBani also shared the video with the same claim.
How do we know?: A simple reverse image search on the video led us to an X post by an account called Weather Monitor, which had shared the same video on 29 March 2025.
Its caption mentioned that it shows an earthquake of 7.7 magnitude in Myanmar.
The date when the post was shared is very close to that which is mentioned in the video's timestamp, which shows that it was recorded on 28 March 2025.
Online video marketplace Newsflare also hosted this video as one of an earthquake in Mandalay, Myanmar, stating that it showed visuals from 28 March.
British tabloid Daily Mail had also shared the same video as a YouTube short, mentioning that the video was from Myanmar.
Conclusion: An old video from Myanmar is being shared with the false claim that it shows the impact of the 8.8 magnitude earthquake which hit Kamchatka, Russia.
