How did we find out the truth?: We performed a reverse image search on Google using some of the keyframes of the viral video and this led us to a post on X (Formerly Twitter).

  • The post was shared on 19 November 2024 and stated that this video showed a car bomb blast which was planted to kill Russian high ranking Black Sea fleet officer Trankovsky.

  • The same results also took us to a report shared by Daily Mail, which carried the same video and detailed the assassination of Valery Trankovsky.

  • Trankovsky was commander of the 41st Brigade of Missile Ships and Boats of the Black Sea Fleet.

  • The report added that Russia's state Investigative Committee has arrested two suspects in this matter.

  • This was also shared by Mail News on 17 November 2024 with the same information on YouTube.

  • Taking a cue, we performed a relevant keyword search on Google, which led us to a report shared by Guardian, on 13 November 2024.

  • It also specified that the Ukrainian secret services planned and implemented this assassination in the Russian-controlled port city of Sevastopol to kill Trankovsky.

Conclusion: A video showing an assassination of a Russian Naval Officer in Crimea is being falsely shared as an EV explosion in Uttar Pradesh.
