A video of Burkina Faso's interim President Ibrahim Traoré talking about a grain agreement "partnership" with India, worth $14 billion is being widely shared on social media.
Traoré goes on to talk about trading maize and sorghum with India, who went to them with "trust" and "respected their sovereignty," highlighting the strife of Burkino Faso's farmers and its diplomacy, while putting down the "West" and its "exploitation."

But...?: Not only is there no evidence of India signing a grain trade deal with Burkino Faso, the video itself is a deepfake.
How do we know?: To start with, we looked for news reports, official announcements, or press releases about this alleged $14 billion grain trade deal with Burkina Faso.
We did not find any confirmed reports or even speculation about any such agreement.
Next, we combed through the website and official social media pages of the African nation's Office of the President for such announcements, but did not find anything.
While looking for information about the claim, we saw that the video had also been shared on YouTube, where it was labelled as "Altered or Synthetic content."
To verify whether the video had been made using Artificial intelligence, we ran it through Hive Moderation's AI-generated content detection tool.
It's tool gave the clip a 99.9 percent confidence of the video being a deepfake.
The Quint also shared this video with the Misinformation Combat Alliance's (MCA) Deepfakes Analysis Unit (DAU) for detailed verification.
Their reports, which ran the video through various detectors in segments, found similar results for each of them.
Hive's AI audio classifier found the entire audio track to be "AI-generated".
However, for the video element, it did not find it to be a deepfake.
Hiya's Deepfake Voice detector, too, said that the voice seemed to be "generated or modified by AI."
ElevenLab's detector said that there was a 98 percent probability of the audio having been created using their software.
Conclusion: A deepfake of Burkinabe President Ibrahim Traoré is being shared to falsely claim that India and Burkina Faso have agreed on a 'mega grain deal'.
