A video report purportedly published by TV9 Bharatvarsh is going viral on the internet claiming that it shows Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently announcing his resignation from his post.
Those sharing the clip have uploaded it with a caption claiming that Kumar has once again switched sides.
What are the facts?: The video actually dates back to January 2024, when Kumar had resigned from his position, ending his party's alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress in Bihar.
How did we find that out?: We conducted a keyword search on YouTube using the words "nitish kumar resignation tv9" and found the same report published on the official channel of TV9 Bharatvarsh.
It was published on 28 January 2024 with a title when translated to English said, "Nitish Kumar Resignation News: Resigned on the advice of the party - Nitish Kumar..."
News report: The Quint had published several reports talking about Kumar's resignation as the Bihar CM in January 2024, which also ended his party's alliance with the Congress and RJD in Bihar.
Following this, he had realigned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form a government in the state.
Conclusion: It is evident that the video of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announcing his resignation is old.
