A set of images with Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn and former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi having a conversation on a cricket ground are doing rounds on social media.
Several users are posting captions with the claim that it was taken after the Pahalgam terror attack, insinuating hatred towards the Bollywood actor.
How did we find out?: We ran a relevant keyword search and found that there are no recent images of Ajay Devgn with Shahid Afridi.
We ran a Google reverse image check and found that the viral photos are from the 8th match of the 2024 World Championship of Legends (WCL), held between India Champions and Pakistan Champions on 6 July 2024.
Evidently, these photos predate the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
What about the 2025 WCL Match?: The match between the Indian Champions and Pakistan Champions, part of the second edition of the World Championship of Legends, was cancelled by organisers, hours before it was scheduled.
The match was scheduled to be held at Edgbaston on 20 July. The decision came after several Indian players like Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina opted out, referring to tensions following the Pahalgam terror attacks in April.
Conclusion: The photos being shared online have been taken before recent military tensions between India and Pakistan and are being shared with incorrect context.
