1. ISI Agent Arrested in Pathankot
An undercover agent working for Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) was arrested from the Mamoon Army Cantonment at Pathankot on Monday night. A senior official claimed that he was allegedly promised Rs 50, 000 to capture pictures of buildings inside the cantonment, which had ‘distinguishable markings’ on them.
The Hindu reported that the accused, Irshad Ahmad, was picked up from Pathankot Cantt and his handler, Sajjad, who is a resident of Jammu was arrested a few days earlier. A third accused, Akram, also part of the spy ring, was arrested on Tuesday from Jammu.
The arrest is considered to be important as Pathankot is still said to be on the radar of terrorist outfits.
2. Kolkata Triple Murder: Neil Fonseca Confesses
Neil Fonseca has confessed to killing his wife and sons, said Calcutta police officers, who talked to him briefly twice in the past week, The Telegraph reports.

The 49-year-old interior decorator had allegedly used a newly bought dumbbell to smash the skulls of wife Jessica and the 16-year-old sons – Darren and Joshua – in their rented Palm Avenue flat early on January 16.
Neil had suffered a deep wound on the throat, which appeared to be self-inflicted.
3. Delhi Police Violence: New Video Emerges
A new video has emerged showing two men dressed in civilian clothes standing amid police personnel just minutes before the baton charge was ordered against students protesting the death of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula at the RSS headquarters.
In an earlier video, the men were seen assaulting the students, men and women alike, sparking outrage across Delhi.
The Indian Express has reported that the Delhi Police denied that the men in civilian clothing were part of the force. When asked about the two men in civilian clothes with the police party, JCP S K Gautam said,
I am conducting an inquiry into the whole matter. I cannot say anything as of now, since the final report is yet to be made.
Several students who were a part of the protest also spoke up about the incident.
Samudra Sankha, a final year MA Social Work student at the Delhi School of Social Work said,
We are used to the lathicharge, but I did not expect police would provoke violence and then use that as a reason to thrash us. I saw a girl being manhandled by police. When I stepped in to help, I was first lathicharged, then beaten up by cops and men in civilian clothes. They lathicharged us again. It all seem very orchestrated, like the police wanted us to react.

4. Mohammad Sohrab’s Gun License Revoked
Trinamul Congress leader Mohammad Sohrab’s six-chamber Armenian revolver is missing along with him.
According to The Telegraph, the Calcutta Police have revoked the gun’s licence on suspicion that Sohrab, who has been missing since his sons’ Audi mowed down an air force corporal on January 13, might be using the weapon to evade arrest.
Sambia, Sohrab’s younger son was allegedly at the car’s wheel during the accident. Sambia, along with two others, are currently behind bars.
A case for possession of illegal arms can be started against the Trinamul leader following the revocation of the licence, police sources said. The case, if filed, will be based on non-bailable sections.
5. Inconsistencies in Ryan School Drowning Case
Police investigating a boy’s death at Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj, claim to have found more inconsistencies in the statements of school officials.
Six-year-old Devansh Kakrora, student of Ryan International School was found in the water tank of the school hours after he went missing.
According to The Times of India, a CBI forensic team inspected the school’s water tank to reconstruct Divyansh Kakrora’s drowning. Senior police officers questioned school staff for more than six hours at the Vasant Kunj North police station.
The boy’s parents alleged police had failed to develop the sequence of events in three days.
The police say they are verifying the school’s claim that Divyansh went missing twice on Saturday – first around 11.30 am and the second time when his body was found in the tank at 12.20 pm.
6. Murder on Camera: Four Accused Arrested
A day after a video of a youth being brutally attacked in Kerala in broad daylight went viral, four persons were arrested on Tuesday by a special police team in connection with the crime.
Police said the victim was riding a motorcycle along with a friend when they were waylaid and attacked by the four people. The accused had thrashed the 25-year-old with sticks. The victim later died at Vakkom near Trivandum two days ago.

7. MCD School Drowning: Principal Arrested, Released On Bail
The principal of an MCD school where a five-year-old nursery student drowned in an uncovered septic tank a week ago was arrested on Tuesday afternoon, said the police.
Rekha Kakkar was released on bail a few hours later, reports The Indian Express.
Nursery school student Ankit had drowned in the septic tank near the school’s toilet on January 27.
Kakkar was suspended following a preliminary inquiry by South Municipal Corporation. She was arrested after the police received a report from the civic body, said JCP Dependra Pathak.
8. Conductor Pulled Out of Bus and Beaten to Death
A 25-year-old conductor was pulled out of a bus by his cousin and his accomplices, and beaten to death at Gurgaon’s IFFCO Chowk on Monday, the victim’s family has alleged.
The fatal assault on Amit Dabas took place near a police booth at Gurgaon, yet no one came to his aid, claims his family. Based on the family’s complaint, the police have registered a case against Vineet, the son of Amit’s aunt, his associates Parvesh, Ravinder and another unidentified person.
The family claimed that Vineet targeted Amit due to a business rivalry over bus routes and operations. An attempt to murder Amit was made a few months ago, too, with a case registered at a police station in Delhi.

9. AAP Member’s Car Torched in Delhi
Unidentified people set fire to a Range Rover Evoque, worth around Rs 60 lakh, owned by Aman Kumar Dabas, the head of AAP’s youth wing in Rohini on Monday evening. He had parked the vehicle in outer Delhi’s Bawana area.
According to The Times of India, the police said that Dabas also deals in property and the incident is suspected to be fallout of a personal enmity .
The incident took place around 6:00 pm when Dabas had gone to a factory in the area.
