Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given it up. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis doesn’t use it, and neither does any of his ministers. The Government of India has very clear views on it, which Finance Minister Arun Jaitley conveyed in the Parliament in April, when he said, “From May 1, no person in the country will be able to put a red light on their vehicles.”

None of this has, however, come in the way of a few VIPs in the city using the red beacon, for long a symbol of power and position. One of them is Maharashtra’s top-most cop – Director General of Police Satish Mathur – who on Sunday told this newspaper that it can go ahead with the story about him not giving up his red beacon.

5. Neptune Ordered To Give Home Buyers Flats In Other Wings

In a first ruling on a complaint filed by an association of home buyers, Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has directed Neptune Ventures and Developers Private Limited, which failed to give promised possession of flats in B wing of Neptune Eleve project in Kanjurmarg in 2014, to shift the flat buyers to flats in C and D wing, which are likely to be completed earlier. 7. Mumbai: Rs 235 Crore Goregaon Flyover Is Now A Bedroom

In a city experiencing a space crunch, finding parking space is next to impossible, but autorickshaw drivers have surprisingly found a cozy stretch on a flyover to rest and sleep on.

Over the last few months, the Mrinal Gore flyover at Goregaon has become a makeshift bedroom for autorickshaw drivers. They park their vehicles on a stretch of the flyover at night, and sleep there at night. The BMC, which had constructed the 1.2-km-long flyover connecting SV Road to Western Express Highway last year, had been planning to extend the flyover further to connect it with the Link Road. For this, it had built another arm beside the main flyover, which is yet to be opened to traffic. This is the stretch drivers are using to rest.
