There's no doubt that Rajinikanth will be the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Really!
It's just that no one knows when. He said it in 1992 in a movie (Annamalai), and then in 1995, he admitted to meeting PV Narasimha Rao, the then Prime Minister, in what was more than ‘just a courtesy.’
AND then in 1996, he almost entered politics for real, and backed off real quick, after the DMK lost despite his support. And then, in every movie after that, from Baasha to Sivaji to Kabali, his dialogues were soaked in political innuendo.
At last year's fan meet, he said he'd enter politics at the right time, soon, really soon... And this year too, he said he'll make the announcement soon. So yeah, if Rajinikanth says it once, it's equal to saying it a hundred times.
He has said he is going to enter politics a hundred times! So, no one knows what's going to happen next.
