There might be a longer wait before the second last season of Game of Thrones airs in 2017, because, ironically winter hasn’t come yet.
In a podcast interview with UFC Unfiltered, show-runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss said:
We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, ‘Winter is here’ - and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more. So we kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot.
This means that even the warmer places like Westeros and Kings Landing will finally see the winter that the Starks keep talking about.
So now, we just have to pray to the old gods and new for the winter to come quickly for the show’s production to begin.
