Batsman Virat Kohli said that he is shocked and disgusted by the attack on Shaktiman, the police horse who lost its leg after being allegedly beaten during a BJP protest on Monday. Last night his leg was amputated.

BJP lawmaker Ganesh Joshi and another party worker have been arrested for animal cruelty.

Kohli posted on instagram as well as twitter expressing his anguish at the treatment meted out to horse in Dehradun.

Yes this image is graphic, yes i feel disgusted even looking at this picture. I cant even imagine what pain the poor innocent harmless horse must have felt. Few days ago i spoke about compassion, and now we see the sad mindset of certain people in this country. Karma is the worst when it comes to settling scores. I urge everyone to unite and make sure the person who has done this to this beautiful beast, gets the harshest of punishment and experiences the same pain the horse has. Iam honestly ashamed of calling this person a fellow country man. He is a coward and doesnt even deserve to called a man. God bless shaktiman and give him strength to cope with this.Uneducated and cruel demons like the one who has done this deserve to be isolated from the society. #uniteindia #actwithcompassion
