Vijay Mallya’s celebrity status fits him well as he just does not stop making news. Currently, the media is chattering away while he makes special appearances at soirees and even cricket matches.

The liquor baron, who owes Indian banks around Rs 9,000 crore and is wanted by the investigation agencies back home, was spotted in the VIP stands in Birmingham on Sunday during the India-Pakistan match.

As he basked in his “wide media coverage”, on Monday he tweeted that he “intends to attend” all matches to cheer team India.

An Indian Express report says that the business tycoon and former owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore was seen at Virat Kohli’s charity event on Monday in London to raise funds for Justice and Care organisation that fights towards ending human trafficking.

In fact, Mallya’s presence forced the Indian team to leave early in order to avoid any controversy. A BCCI source present at the event told PTI that Kohli and the Indian team were “uncomfortable” due to Mallya’s presence.

Look, Virat or his foundation never invited Mallya at the function. But normally what happens at the charity dinner is that someone who has bought a table is entitled to invite his guests. Similarly, someone who bought a table must have invited him.
