Uday Chopra Asks to Legalise Marijuana, Mumbai Police Schools Him

Here we go again!

In latest news, Mumbai Police has another epic response to Uday Chopra’s tweet on why India should legalise marijuana.

Simply Naive - Like marijuana, cocaine has medicinal values too?

Mumbai Police on Saturday, 15 September, reminded Twitterati of the ‘savage’ cop Jay Dixit from the ‘Dhoom’ franchise. Jay, played by Abhishek Bachchan was always pulling up Ali in the films. Uday Chopra plays Ali in the franchise.

Mumbai Police, in their tweet, asked Uday Chopra to be mindful after the actor created viral chatter on Twitter supporting legalisation of marijuana in India. Chopra presented a few arguments to support his demand, which included, “it’s part of Indian culture” and has “medical benefits”.

I feel India should legalize marijuana. Firstly, It’s part of our culture. Secondly, I think if legalized and taxed it can be a huge revenue source. Not to mention it will remove the criminal element associated with it. Plus and most importantly it has a lot of medical benefits!

He later tweeted that he does not use the substance.

And no I do not use it. I just really think it’s a wise move, given our history with the plant.

When asked what history was he referring to, he listed the use of ‘Bhaang’ or hemp during the festival of Holi.

Well in Holi, Bhaang (which is similar to marijuana) has been used for centuries. Also during Mahashivratri many sadhus smoke it in emulation of Shiva. Guess more religion than culture but the two are kind of inter related.
