There are two kinds of women: those who shop online and those who don’t shy away from getting their hands dirty for the perfect bargain.
So when we found out that our favorite Delhi market, Sarojini Nagar, was now available online; we decided to take a little challenge. Under a not-so-tight budget of Rs. 2,000, we would see who gets the coolest things.
But while Deeksha, my colleague, would get to shop in the comfy confines of The Quint office, I would have to battle the heat and grime of Sarojini Nagar.
On a side note, the initially planned budget was Rs. 1000, which I connivingly got extended to Rs. 2000, because I personally didn’t want to miss out on some extra buys.
The Experience

Must come clean on this – as an online shopping convert I was visiting the market after a long time.
While the initial plan was to pick up a bunch of stuff, my budget got haywire after I spotted these really cool frayed denim culottes for Rs 900; and I just had to have them. The ladies, I am sure, will understand that feeling.
The thing is, I had been wanting to hop on to the culotte bandwagon for a long time, but you know how it is; you are never sure of how a new trend will look on you when you are buying online.
So I lapped up the opportunity the moment I saw them in the market, and got to try them on too. I am a culotte girl now. Yay, I can finally fit in with the cool blogger crowd.
Then I spotted this really chic and breezy beige and white anti-fit top. I have been getting compliments from the girls, so it’s safe to assume it has been a good buy too.
My most unexpected buy was this really cute tan bag that I got for Rs. 350. Oh and of course, my red maxi dress which will be nice to wear for a movie or a casual dinner.

Deeksha, meanwhile, got herself something called a baby doll dress (guys, please, think of a better name; this one is so cheesy). But I am jealous of her green top – it’s a nice buy.

I managed to get 5 dresses, I know two of those were the same, but hey, how could I not have picked them! They were so cheap. And besides, with whites getting easily soiled, it doesn’t hurt to pick a second option.
Also, when you have the option of being able to buy, try and return, who wouldn't want to shop online? Divyani battled Delhi's humid weather and crowd, and yet got little stuff. The bag is so tiny that even the smallest Bisleri bottle wouldn't fit in it.
Nevertheless, I liked her tunic top. Her selection was nice.
