Climate Activist Greta Thunberg Sails Off UK Coast, Netizens React
16-year-old Greta Thunberg has set off on a month-long journey from Britain’s shores on 14 August.
In a world where there are some who still feel that climate change isn’t real, Greta Thunberg would say otherwise, and well, act upon it too.
The 16-year-old climate activist set off on a month-long emission-free journey from the shores of the United Kingdom on 14 August. This tour will take her to a UN summit on climate change in New York in September, and the COP25 conference in Santiago, Chile, in December. Thunberg refused air travel due to its huge carbon footprint.
Thunberg started off with her movement in August 2018 as she started skipping school to sit outside the Parliament of Sweden with placards proclaiming that climate change had reached a crisis point. Soon she started speaking along with like-minded allies who were inspired by students who had walked out of their classrooms to protest the lack of gun control after the Florida shooting in 2018.
At present, Thunberg’s voice is one among many in the mainly female-led movement. Her decision to sail to avoid flying is a strong one and she has been receiving all kinds of reactions on social media.
However Some Criticised Her Journey
