‘Who Played the TRP Game Better?’: Twitter on Sridevi’s Autopsy

Twitter users are fuming at the media post Sridevi’s death.

On Sunday, 25 February, Sridevi’s untimely death left the country shocked.

On Monday morning, before the autopsy report came in, social media timelines were inundated with touching obituaries. On Monday evening, post the autopsy report, the narrative took a different turn.

And people were left fuming.

Sridevi may or may not have been under the influence of alcohol when she slipped in the bathtub, but does that warrant a thorough dissection by TV/news channels? Do we get to speculate her cause of death, sensationalise it, trivialise her legacy, and reduce her to her last few minutes?
