After a Pakistani woman accused actor Priyanka Chopra of encouraging nuclear war between India and Pakistan, Quantico star’s response is being widely shared on social media.

As the video started doing the rounds on Twitter, several netizens praised Priyanka for her ‘gracious’ response to the woman at an event in United States, while others called the Indian actor a ‘hypocrite’ for evading questions.

So What Happened?

During the Beautycon event in Los Angeles on 10 August, a Pakistani audience member named, Ayesha Malik allegedly heckled Priyanka and accused the 37-year-old of disrupting peace despite being a UN Goodwill Ambassador.

Malik’s question was raised in the context of Priyanka’s tweet in February 2019, where she praised the Indian Air Force after Indian fighter jets attacked the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist camp at Balakot in Pakistan.

“As a Goodwill Ambassador, you are encouraging nuclear war against Pakistan. People like me have supported you in your business...” Malik said.

Following this, Priyanka let the woman "vent" and then said that she is not somebody who promotes war.

“I have many, many friends from Pakistan and I am from India. War is not something I'm really fond of but I am patriotic, so I'm sorry if I hurt sentiments to people who do love me and have loved me,” Priyanka responded.

Priyanka concluded by saying that the girl should not ‘yell’ at an event, which had been organised to spread love.

Meanwhile, Malik also took to Twitter and said speaking on “humanitarian crisis” does not qualify as ‘venting’.

She also attached a video where it can be seen that her microphone was being snatched by a security officer before she could even finish her question.
