Islamophobia is rising in the west and the situation isn’t getting any better for India’s Muslim brethren, Hussain Haidry recited his powerful poem titled “Hindustani Musalmaan”.

With slam poetry becoming a widening form of expression among people, Haidry’s words resonate when he asks, “Main kaisa Musalmaan hoon?

The essence is to end the stigma surrounding his religion which forces almost every Muslim to face discrimination.

Talking about the infamous vote-bank politics with which most politicians prostrate in front of Muslims during elections, Haidry asserts that he is not one to fall for false promises.

He ends by saying he’s equally Muslim as is he Indian, with one not taking precedence over the other.

Sadly, the essence of what he says does not get justice when translated into English. So listen to his voice and let the sentiment hit home.
