The new year began with a rather rare occurrence, that of a typo in a tweet by Shashi Tharoor! It came just a couple of months after the Congress MP wrote “thang Hoog hats” instead of “than ghoonghats” while tweeting about the Padmavati controversy.
In the age of auto-correct, typos are a normal and recurrent. However, while it is normal for us humble beings to fumble every now and then, a grammatical error from Tharoor... well, let’s just say it was a hard-digest for Twitterati.
Tharoor, who did a ‘Facebook Live’ video on 1 January, tweeted his delight over gaining 20,000 viewers on the same. He shared the link to the video for those who missed it, except that he didn’t; he shared it “for those whom missed it”.
Twitterati Doesn’t Miss a Chance to School the Master of Words
What followed was a barrage of hilarious responses to this seemingly honest mistake.
Suhel Seth Joins in the Fun
Actor Suhel Seth noticed the error as well and joined the banter.
And this obviously gave people another chance to laugh about the mistake. Even singer Adnan Sami appreciated Seth’s response.
It Was a Typo, Guys, Tharoor Clarified
The next day, Tharoor clarified that it was a typo and that the ‘m’ from ‘missed’ got transported and repeated after ‘who’.
He realised that Seth had caught his error, too. The two then had a friendly exchange on Twitter.
