Commonwealth Gold medallists Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap have tied the knot! Saina took to social media on 14 December 2018 to share photos from their wedding ceremony. Her adorable caption read, “best match of my life.”
The star shuttlers first met when they began training under Pullela Gopichand in 2005, and went on to spend a vast amount of time in each other’s company while representing the country.
Like all brides, Saina too was looking radiant in a light pink and light blue Sabyasachi lehenga. Parupalli Kashyap chose to adorn a baby pink sherwani and the couple looks adorable!
Saina and Kashyap’s wedding bells come after a reported ten-year dating spell – which the couple has repeatedly denied over the years.
“We started travelling for bigger tours from 2007-08 onwards. We played tournaments together, trained together and slowly, started paying more attention to each other's matches,” Nehwal had said while announcing the wedding in October.
The wedding is sure to be a coming together of the entire Indian badminton fraternity, some of whom have already started pulling the pair’s legs on Twitter.Reports suggest the wedding, on 16 December, is set to be a private affair with only about 100 guests in attendance.
