After making headlines for his exemplary performance in India’s 3-0 test series win against New Zealand, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is now making headlines for his encouraging tweet to Pakistani bowler Yasir Shah.
In reply to Pakistani sports journalist Faizan Lakhani’s tweet that stated the possibility of Shah surpassing Ashwin’s record of the fastest Asian to reach 100 Test wickets, the Indian spinner passed on good wishes to his Pakistani counterpart, winning many hearts.
Ashwin became the fastest Asian cricketer to reach the 100-mark feat in his 18th Test match against West Indies in 2013. Just five wickets short of breaking Ashwin’s record, Yasir Shah will be hoping to achieve the feat in his 17th test against the same nation.
“He’s such a delight to watch”, said Ashwin, winning the hearts of cricket fans on both sides of the border.
