‘The Shape of Water’ swept the Oscars at the 90th Academy Awards. The show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, saw a number of interesting moments – some poignant, some funny. Twitter was watching the Oscars close, with users quick to post memes and observations about the glitzy award ceremony. Here are a few moments from the Oscars that got Twitterati riled up this year:
#MeToo Stamp at Oscars
As Hollywood celebrities made their way to the 90th Annual Oscar awards, they were greeted by Ryan Seacrest at the red carpet. Seacrest has been accused of sexually harassing his former stylist and the presence of the TV personality and the sight of other stars cosying up to him did not go down well on social media.
Viola Davis, Margot Robbie and Timothee Chalamet did not stop for interviews and walked past Ryan. Octavia Spencer did not do an interview either. Director Dee Rees seemed to wave no when someone asked if she wanted to stop.
Kobe Bryant, who has also been accused of sexual harassment, found himself on the receiving end of hate on Twitter:
Tiffany Haddish Steals the Show
Twitter couldn’t get enough of Tiffany Haddish.
We were all in awe when she got to Meryl Streep by any means necessary. YASSS! Jump that rope in your gown, girl.
And it goes without saying that Haddish and Maya Rudolph made for some of the night’s funniest moments.
It’s settled. They need a sitcom or a movie together. Period.
