“Because we can put a man on the moon, but we can’t put a woman in a spacesuit?” wrote one Twitter user.

International space agency NASA’s plans for an all-woman spacewalk hit a dead end because of a wardrobe crisis of sorts – the agency doesn’t have enough spacesuits that fit the women astronauts.

The two astronauts who were scheduled to walk in space – Anne C McClain and Christina H Koch – would both need to wear a medium-size torso component. But, unfortunately, only one is readily available at the International Space Station.

Until now, all the 214 spacewalks that the space station has had – since it was assembled in 1998 – saw only all-male or mixed male-female teams.

Twitter has been divided on this lack of the right equipment on NASA’s side, with some associating it with gender bias, while others arguing that it has nothing to do with gender.

Some Twitter users pointed that it can’t be blamed on sexism.
