It really doesn’t get much sweeter than this. A little boy in Sairang, Mizoram, accidentally ran over his neighbour’s chicken when riding his bicycle. Six year old Derek C Lalchhanhima was heartbroken to have possibly hurt the chicken and was so keen to see everything set right that he immediately rushed the chick to a nearby hospital along with ten rupees
A nurse took a picture, the picture went viral in no time, and reminded people that children are our greatest and cutest hope! The best part is that he rushed the bird to a hospital and not a vet- for him clearly all creatures great and small deserve love and care!
The chicken sadly was already dead, but the nurse according to this report on NDTV was so touched that she took a picture of the little boy before sending him home. Young Derek was so sad that the bird won’t revive that he then wanted to take a hundred rupees to the hospital to make the bird better, but his parents had to explain to him, that there was nothing more that could be done.
“I am laughing and crying at the same time”, “ there is still hope for humanity”, “society will laugh at you but be yourself and you will achieve greatness” - were just some of the reactions that the post got. Doesn’t take much to make us feel mushy. Some people went on to say that the boy’s parents deserved praise for raising him to be such a thoughtful young man though we say, give the kid some credit for not just being the kindest ever but also acting spontaneously and straight from the heart.
Derek has since been specially honoured with a shawl and certificate at his school. He totally deserves it.
