Why am I alive?

We’re sure you have said this at least once if not more in your life. “It’s a very millennial thing to do,” you tell yourself. But a 27-year-old man from Mumbai has taken this to the next level. Raphael Samuel’s action to take his parents to the court for giving him birth has got him international recognition.

Samuel is a committed ‘antinatalist’. He believes that procreation or reproduction is ‘morally bad’. Reproducing more lives burdens the Earth’s resources and leads to more misery.

You have some doubts? Watch this video.

In the video Samuels explains what he means by “I was born without consent.” Explaining that he says that none of us consented to be here. We just ended up in this world because of our parents’ discretion. He says,

Something that’s not your decision (meaning your birth), you cannot be responsible for. You do not have to be responsible to your parents.

Antinatalists around the world believe that if people want to be parents then they must adopt instead of giving birth. According to Guardian, Samuels wrote on Facebook “I love my parents and we have a great relationship, but they had me for their joy and their pleasure.”

Ever since the news about him suing his parents went viral, Samuels has been receiving a lot of hate comments and is being called out for his ingratitude towards his folks.
