An Indian expat became a millionaire overnight after he won a lottery of close to Rs 13 crore in the Abu Dhabi Big Ticket Draw. Sreeraj Krishnan Kopparembil, a 33-year-old man, works as a shipping coordinator.
“I just went blank for a minute when I got a call from Big Ticket Draw, and I still cannot believe it,” an elated Krishnan told Khaleej Times.
Krishnan, originally from Kerala, has been working in Abu Dhabi for the last nine years.
Krishnan was a regular ticket buyer but he never won anything. Quite like the movies, Krishnan bought ticket number 44,698 thinking it would be his last time, and he turned out to be ‘last time lucky.’
Krishnan said he doesn’t have any lofty plans with the money he’s got through the lottery, and his priority would be to pay off his housing loan in India. He also wishes to continue working in Abu Dhabi as the UAE capital has proved to be very lucky for him.
