Google is celebrating turning 21 with a retro doodle.

The Google doodle depicts a bulky desktop from 21 years ago, when co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page began working on the search engine in their dorm room. In it, the pair outlined Google, a prototype "large-scale search engine" that had a database of "at least 24 million pages."

“We chose our systems name, Google, because it is a common spelling of googol,” wrote Sergey Brin and Larry Page back when they were in Stanford University completing their PhD.

Many took to Twitter to wish the search giant for answering trillions of queries every day.
