Heavy rains on Friday made the traffic come to a standstill in parts of the National Capital Region. Angry, frustrated, and disappointed commuters took to Twitter to express their grievances.
One such commuter, Birender Kumar Singh, tweeted to the Delhi Traffic Police regarding a traffic jam on NH 48.
The Delhi Traffic Police, which has been posting traffic alerts on its Twitter account, promptly replied that since the area was out of its jurisdiction, the complaint was being forwarded to the Gurugram Police.
This led to a blame game between the two police forces on Twitter. Gurugram Police replied with the following tweet.
The Delhi Traffic Police, however, held both its cool and its ground.
The blame game and shirking of responsibilities did not sit well with the janta. Here’s how people responded to the thread.
A Twitter user was also quick to point out that traffic jams on certain National Highways were an everyday occurrence.
One wonders if such a tv-soap like exchange between the two forces on a public platform like Twitter was more necessary than addressing the issue at hand.
