On Tuesday morning, Priyanka Moitra and her daughter ordered french fries at the McDonald’s outlet on the EM Bypass in Kolkata. Upon the arrival of their order, Moitra, who is pregnant, allegedly spotted a dead lizard in the fries.

I screamed and rushed to the washroom to throw up after seeing the lizard. It was horrible and disgusting.

She immediately reported the incident to the manager. "But he was casual about it and left after only saying sorry," Moitra said. She then took a picture of the lizard and filed an FIR at the Phulbagan police station against the outlet.

Moitra’s husband, who is currently in Lucknow, expressed shock over the incident.

“I’m concerned about my family’s health. My wife is pregnant. How can McDonald’s be so careless? As soon as I heard about the incident, I contacted Delhi and Kolkata's McDonald's office, but they didn't bother. There's been no apology, they just want us to send it to them for analysis," he said.

In a statement, the official spokesperson for McDonald’s (North & East) India said that the company is taking the matter seriously. “Immediately upon being made aware of the complaint, we launched a thorough investigation in an effort to gather the facts of the matter... it is still ongoing."
