Has your dog been acting funny, strange or unpredictable? Is he doing unmentionable things to your couch, your leg or to the teddy your boyfriend gifted you last Valentine’s Day? Well, such behaviour suggests that your dog is lonely. You might be doting on your dog but, at times, he might need a different kind of love.
As a good dog owner, you may feel obligated to help him find puppy love, but where do you start? Someone well aware of your predicament came up with an app to help you find the ‘pawfect match’ for your furry four-legged friend.
Tindog is a dating app for dogs, that helps dog owners find other dogs in their area. Much like Tinder, it uses GPS location data to suggest nearby matches. Users can then swipe left or right to like or dismiss a potential partner.
Once matched, dog owners are able to chat, share photos with, and meet other dog owners in their area. If everything falls into place, your dog has a date!
The first dog in our acquaintance to benefit from this digital matchmaking service was Shampy.
Shampy is four and had been feeling quite lonely. He had been with female dogs, but was rejected by all of them. Finally, we considered giving Tindog a shot. It required some time to convince Shampy to get onboard.
The Adventure Begins
The first thing to do is create a profile. The app asks owner details and basic details of their dog, like name, age, where they live, an “About me” section and finally, a profile picture. We were extra careful about the last one since we wanted to get it right.
Profile picture is the deal breaker. We took extra care to help Shampy look less desperate and more adorable. Rejections can be hard, after all, and we didn’t want him to go through that. We wanted to show his ladydog-killer side so we finally settled on this.

Shampy was reluctant at first. Having never used a dating app before, he was hesitant to even look at the lady dog profiles.
Swipe Left to ‘Ignore’ and Right to ‘Like’
In the process, we did swipe left a lot of times. Shampy rejected potential mates for the flimsiest reasons- they had too much fur, they were too uptight, they seemed like they barked too much. After hours of trawling through the digital kennels, we found someone for Shampy to go on a date with. Everything seemed perfect about her. Shampy was ecstatic!
A Pawfect Match!
When the app said, “It’s a match!” we too were jumping around with glee. She could be ‘The One’ for Shampy.
