The Eiffel Tower is one of Paris’ most well-known architectural wonders––so much so that the iconic tower welcomes almost 7 million visitors every year. Completed on March 31 1889, it celebrates its 126th anniversary on this day––an event that was also marked by a Google Doodle.
But here’s something you may not have heard of: the Eiffel Tower has a Bollywood connection.
Actress Kalki Koechlin, born to French parents in Pondicherry, is a descendant of Maurice Koechlin (1856-1946), a Swiss structural engineer who, as the managing director of Gustave Eiffel’s Compagnie des Establissments Eiffel, actually contributed to the construction of both the Eiffel Tower and the iconic Statue of Liberty!
