Cashing in on Priya Prakash Varrier’s classroom wink that set a thousand hearts aflutter, Omar Lulu is said to have had high hopes from his Valentine’s Day release Oru Adaar Love. Back when the trailer rose to dizzying fame, Priya Varrier’s wink with that imaginary pistol came to stand for all that was cool, sexy and emancipated about a girl with a crush. But it turns out that the movie has crushed audience hopes, with critics panning the dialogue and plot for being sexist. What more, the story of the movie’s release itself took a twist as the director now reportedly wants to change the climax to please his disappointed audiences!

If you are wondering whether or not to see the film, here is what critics and audiences had to say...

While he got carried away by all the fuss around the wink, Omar Lulu may have forgotten that a movie also needs a plot.

Oru Adaar Love isn’t only badly written but also reeks of body shaming-jokes, sexual innuendos and misogyny.

But what the movie did have was a little lip lock or kiss scene between Priya Varrier and Roshan Abdul Rahoof, with some folks calling it sexy and others saying “ What next, French kiss?” So maybe, you do want to get your tickets after all, to snub the moral police.

But then going by reviews, be ready for some hefty doses of sexism in this coming-of-age teen drama set on a school campus where a woman school teacher is objectified, and called after hours by her male student asking if she will clear a ‘doubt’. Priya’s character is apparently slapped by Roshan’s character and other sexual innuendos fly like the flying kisses did in the trailer, but don’t seem to always land well with the audience. The film has been dubbed into Tamil, Telugu and Kannada with actress Noorin Shereef praised for a good performance.
