One of the biggest releases of 2019 is here. No, Avengers Endgame is yet to release. We are talking about Bollywood’s multi-starrer movie Kalank featuring Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Varun Dhawan in lead roles. With so much buzz around this period drama set in pre-independent India, we had to watch it and here’s our honest take on the film.

The story line is predictable. Nothing new at all. It felt as if Director Abhishek Verman has taken the success formulas of DDLJ, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Gadar and mixed them together to churn out Kalank. From the sets to the screenplay, everything looks beautiful and grand but the story is a bit of a drag.

It begins in Husnabad where Papa Chaudhry (Sanjay Dutt) and Dev Chaudhry (Aditya Roy Kapoor) are running a newspaper business. Mrs Chaudhry (Sonakshi Sinha) is on the brink of death due to her ailment, when she compels Dev to marry Roop (Alia Bhatt). But Dev doesn’t feel any love for Roop. Poor Roop, with a heavy heart and make-up doesn't breakup with Dev but meets Zafar (Varun Dhawan). Zafar is an ironsmith by profession and a complete jerk by impression. Anyway. Just like in any typical movie – despite being a bad human being if the looks are charming enough, then in the end love is guaranteed.

And then... Hey, it isn't interval yet?
Well, it is a long movie. 2 hr 51 min to be precise. Worry not, we have crunched it down for you to two minutes. No, we are not giving away any spoilers; simply stating the obvious.

So, this weekend before you rush to the theatre to watch Kalank, here’s our two minute tale, just for you.
