Google celebrated the Summer Solstice with an adorable earth doodle.
On this day, the Northern hemisphere will receive the most hours of daylight, making it the longest day of the year. However, the other side of the world, that is, the Southern hemisphere, will experience the shortest day of the year.
The Summer Solstice occurs when one of the Earth’s poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun. It happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere. The part of the Earth tilted towards the sun has the Summer Solstice and the other half, tilted away has the Winter Solstice.
Summer Solstice occurs sometime between June 20 and June 22 in the Northern Hemisphere and between December 20 and December 23 in the Southern Hemisphere.
