The suspense is finally over! Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma tied the knot in Florence, Italy on 11 December. The wedding was a close knit affair. A week before the most-anticipated wedding of the decade, paparazzi snapped Anushka and family at the Mumbai airport. The reports sparked a media frenzy, fuelling speculation that the star couple were off to get married away from public glare.
On the evening of 11 December, the couple took to Twitter to post identical announcements. “Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey”.
Needless to say, it broke the Indian internet.
A video of Anushka Sharma, featuring the actor and producer walking down the aisle to a song from her film, Phillauri, has gone viral.
So we made a few millennials watch the video. And we recorded their reactions. Among the oohs and aahs were some interesting points. Some said the wedding looked like it would fit right into a Bollywood film. Celebrated couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee, the designer behind the striking wedding ensembles sported by Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, said the couple were a delight to work with.
