“Shaadi ka ladoo jo khaye wo bhi pachataye aur jo na khaye wo bhi Pachtaye”. No thank you, says Virat Kohli. Because unlike many Indian husbands, he isn’t one to have any ‘pachtava’ or regret even after having the proverbial shaadi ka laddoo.

Time and again, the ace cricketer has challenged the perceptions about what it means to be a married male in India. He’s not one to make jokes about his life being wrecked after marriage (Yes, uncles joking about this in parties, we are talking to you.)

Virat is married. He is happy and he is very comfortable being one half of the power couple that is Virushka. And on his one year wedding anniversary, we tell you exactly how Virat is the perfect captain to guide Indian men to be better husbands in 2018.

Virat, the Grateful Husband

“Can’t believe it’s been a year already because it feels like it happened just yesterday. Time has truly flown by, Mine forever,” are the words put out on social media by Virat Kohli, brimming with heartfelt emotion on the couple’s first wedding anniversary.

Virat and Anushka tied the knot last year on 11th of December in Italy. Ever since then, Virat has gone on record multiple times talking about the impact his wife has had on him. In an Interview, the star cricketer said,

Anushka has changed me as a person, I came from very different North Indian background and I was unaware about what is happening in different sphere of society. I was not a practical person before that, but Anushka changed me a lot.

Virat, the Supportive Husband

In June this year, Virat posted a video of Anushka schooling a man who had thrown garbage on the road. That video pushed some netizens to troll Anushka and within a few hours, ‘meme content’ about her started making the rounds on social media. But rather than remaining silent over the issue, Virat the husband took to Twitter and stood by his wife, slamming trolls in strong words. “Lot of people who don’t have courage to do something like this find it funny. Everything for people nowadays is meme content, Shame.”

Virat, the Tenacious Husband

After the England drubbing that sparked off a debate over whether player’s wives should be allowed to accompany them on overseas tours and BCCI observing that wives are a big distraction in the way of players’ good performance, Virat reportedly requested the top officials at BCCI to reconsider the decision. In the end, his request was accepted by the BCCI.

The previous policy allowed players’ wives to stay along with them on overseas tours only for fourteen days irrespective of the duration of the tour.

Virat, the Professionally Proud Husband

Virat Kohli has never shied away from praising his wife’s work in public.

Virat is not at all insecure about having a wife who is hugely successful. In fact, he has always appreciated the work of Anushka and very publicly showered praise upon her for her acting talent. He lauded Anushka for her performance in the movie Pari and even called it “her best work ever.”

Virat Kohli, The ‘Good Parenting Advocate’ Husband

In a country where the older generation of men doesn’t think twice about practising corporal punishment on their children, Virat Kohli took an evolved stand when he shared a video, strongly lambasting a mother who was continuously slapping her sobbing child for not memorising numbers.

Virat Kohli’s stance that a child can never learn if he is intimidated brought out the compassionate streak in his personality. He also made it cool for men to talk about parenting and do away with the notion that raising a child is only a woman’s domain.
