If you’re a millennial, you will remember Aladdin from Disney Hour days on TV. You’ll also remember playing the video game.

But what if we told you, you could relive the fairy tale all over again?

After its successful run in Mumbai, Disney’s Aladdin is now in Delhi. The musical is inspired by Disney’s original Broadway production that is playing in London, Tokyo, Hamburg, and is on tour in Australia.

The Indian production of the musical boasts 14 location settings, 450 lavish costumes, a flying magic carpet, choreographed sequences, and special effects that promise to instantly transport the audiences into the magical world of Agrabah.

The Quint caught up with the cast of Aladdin to find out what it was like to pull off the ambitious show.

It takes multiple practice sessions for the actors and there’s a whole team working on them to make sure that every show goes as planned.

While the show is in English, the audience will be in for a treat when they discover that Genie can also speak Hindi. In fact, he ‘fixes’ the language for the other characters too!

The actors who this beloved tale to life on stage include Siddharth Menon (Aladdin), Taaruk Raina (also Aladdin), Kira Narayanan (Jasmine), Mantra (Genie), and Vikrant Chaturvedi (Jafar).

The two-and-a-half-hour-long show keeps the audience hooked, with live singing and dance performances. Genie’s antics keep the audience in splits, while the script is garnished with local references to give this classic tale a delightful Indian touch.
