It’s hot chatter on social media that Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are dating. Priyanka Chopra is all set to tie the knot with her ten-year-younger beau Nick Jonas. Shahid Kapoor tied the knot a few years ago with Mira Rajput who is about 13 years younger. And the latest buzz is all about Malaika Arora allegedly dating Arjun Kapoor. But why are they the talk of the town? You’d say because they are celebrities. No! It’s because of the major age gap in all these couples.
But why is this ‘age difference’ a big deal in Indian society? And why is it that an older woman is seen as problematic?
What age difference is apt when you’re in a relationship or looking for a partner to marry?
“I don’t want a younger man. It will look like I am raising another child.”
Studies have found that couples with a major age difference mostly face disapproval from society. While some say women look for stability and settled life when they express a desire to marry an older man, others believe that if a woman is way younger than a man, it could mean that their thoughts won’t match years later.
Again, studies have shown that brain connection streamline earlier in girls which could explain the “more matured” thought process.
Celebs and Age Gap
But what do people think about some celeb couples who are the talk of the town right now?
We asked people about Nick-Priyanka and most people said that if you’re looking for a long-term bond and don’t want to end up with a break up at some point then it’s better to date/marry someone from the same age group.
People also said that where there is huge gap in age, it’s bound to either fall out at some point or ideologies cease to match which could create differences.
